KCare Merits Maverick 12 Power Wheelchair - Includes Batteries
Description
The KCare Merits Maverick 12 Power Wheelchair is a mid-wheel drive power wheelchair supplied with a captain’s style seat, intended for users requiring a stable, comfortable powered mobility solution for both indoor use and community access. The powerbase combines a low centre of gravity with front and rear suspension to support controlled movement across a range of typical indoor and outdoor environments.
Mid-Wheel Drive Configuration
The Maverick 12 uses a mid-wheel drive configuration to support manoeuvrability in confined indoor spaces such as residential environments and areas with limited turning clearance. With a published turning radius of approximately 53cm, the chair may assist users to navigate doorways and internal layouts when appropriately set up and assessed. A patented obstacle climbing suspension and 12-inch pneumatic drive wheels are designed to support consistent traction over common surfaces, including uneven footpaths and thresholds, within the limitations outlined by the manufacturer.
Captain’s Seat and Positioning
This model is supplied with a contoured captain’s style seat mounted on a height adjustable four-post seat frame. The backrest reclines, and the armrests adjust for both height and width, allowing the seating position to be tailored to the user during set-up and adjusted over time as needs change.
The seat measures 51cm wide by 46cm deep with a 51cm backrest height. Seat height from the ground is adjustable between 56cm and 58cm, and between 43cm and 48cm from the deck. Where more complex postural support is required, the Maverick 12 Rehab model with the R601 adjustable seating system should be considered instead.
Drive System and Capacity
The Maverick 12 is driven by dual in-line motors designed to provide controlled torque and efficiency for everyday mobility use. The powerbase has a stated maximum user weight of 204kg. Maximum speed is 8km/h and the manufacturer-stated maximum range is up to 32km, noting that actual range will vary depending on user weight, terrain, driving behaviour, and environmental conditions. The chair is rated for gradients up to 8 degrees.
Control System
The wheelchair is supplied with a Dynamic Shark 50 controller and a swing-away joystick mount as standard, which may support functional access to tables, desks, and work surfaces when appropriately positioned. Braking is provided by an intelligent, regenerative electromagnetic system. Control setup and programming should be completed by trained technicians in line with clinical recommendations.
Batteries and Charging
This configuration is supplied with two 12V 55Ah batteries and a 5A off-board charger. Off-board charging allows the batteries to be charged away from the chair where preferred. Battery performance and service life depend on charging routine and use, and batteries should be maintained in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.
Colours and Options
Fender colours are selected at the time of order. Available options include an electric seat lift, rear attendant controls, and alternative seating and leg rest configurations. Please contact us to discuss the configuration most appropriate for the user.
