The Merits Fende is a mid-size four wheel mobility scooter built for people who want the stability and ride comfort of a larger machine. Four wheels give a steady, planted feel through turns and on cambered footpaths, and adjustable prestige car like suspension front and rear delivers a smooth ride over varied terrain.

Comfort has clearly been the focus of the design. The contoured high back seat has a leather feel finish and slides, swivels and reclines, with adjustable armrests, so the riding position is set around the rider rather than the other way around. Being able to swivel the seat also makes getting on and off considerably easier, which matters more than most specifications when a scooter is used several times a day.

A unique battery storage design frees up floor space for the feet and creates a safe, secure lockable area for personal items, with a lockable drawer beneath the seat and a shopping bag hook for everyday errands. The modern LCD dashboard shows battery gauge, speed, time and temperature clearly at a glance, and an easy to access 12 volt socket allows a phone or GPS to be charged while out.

A built in speed reduction switch activates automatically when turning, reducing the risk of instability in a tight corner, and the LED lighting system provides brighter illumination while drawing less power. A modesty panel finishes the styling and keeps the working parts out of sight.

At 114.5kg with batteries fitted and 1200mm long, the Fende is a mid-size scooter and does not dismantle for car transport.
