EquaGel and Foam Construction
The Protector cushion features 6.45cm (2.5 inches) of patented EquaGel™, combined with a 1.27cm (0.5") stability foam base. It also incorporates a 2.54cm (1'') trochanter bucket sculpted in for stability and comfort.
Two-Stage EquaGel Design
The cushion uses a two-stage EquaGel™ system. The top layer is a thin wall gel with a tight grid, designed to provide comfort. The bottom layer is a thicker wall gel with a wide grid, designed to offer deep posture support.
Pelvic Contour and Pressure Distribution
The pelvic area of the cushion is contoured to distribute a user’s weight more evenly than flat cushions. It retains 4.45cm (1.75”) of buckling gel under the pressure points to enhance pressure relief.
EquaGel Technology Explained
EquaGel™ is a dry-polymer gel with unique properties. Its key feature is column buckling, where gel walls buckle under weight and pass the load to surrounding walls. This process happens until the weight is evenly supported, equalising pressure. This technology allows peak pressure points like the ischial tuberosities and coccyx/sacrum to sink into the EquaGel™, while the thighs and buttocks are supported for good posture.
Comfort and Support Layers
Each cushion utilises a two-stage buckling approach. The top comfort layer has a small grid of gel, sensitive to pressure, allowing areas needing support to sink into the lower support layer, which maintains good posture.
Additional Features
Some cushions include a pelvic contour to mimic the natural sitting shape and further distribute pressure.
